Hi Trevor.
No, much more simple than that
It's where the previous owner had mounted the dials for the outboard motor on a strip of plywood - it had totally rotted and when I ripped it away it revealed the rather nasty and jagged edged hole in the dashboard!!
I'm probably going to replace it with a nice custom cut piece of white acrylic or similar.
The more I look into this, the more I think that the model is indeed a Microplus 501 - I wonder if they changed the design (mind you it's radically different isn't it!) and ours are the original 'Mark 1' models or something?
Come on Microplus experts out there.......
Best wishes,
James. |

Your white air vent looks lovely that covers the hole |

I saw a boat for sale over here on the Isle of Man, exactly like the two posted here, with the same engine well and bizarre rear side windows. The chap was advertising it as a Microplus Dayfisher or something along those lines, definately not a number anyway.
When I sanded and repainted my hull I didn't have any kind of rack to spin it with either. I just tilted the trailer up and down and put it up on blocks to raise it slightly. It was bloody awkward and very dirty work but I didn't have any other way of doing it. |

Hi all,
I joined this site a couple of weeks back.
I bought my boat last year from its original owner, who bought it new in 1966.
With the boat came an original Microplus brochure, which may be of interest to some of you, I'm going to try to upload it on here, with a couple of pics of my boat.

It looks like the last page of the brochure did not upload, so I'm trying again, fingers crossed.

Welcome to the forum.
Well that's a new model for the books and to have the original papers must be great. Would be nice to add all of that to the model section. _________________ Scallywag |
